Wikispecies:Administrators

Administrator access is granted to known and trusted members of the community who are familiar with the policies of Wikispecies. Administrator access is not meant to imply editorial authority on the project.

An administrator is simply a trusted user that can:

  • protect and unprotect pages
  • delete and undelete pages
  • delete images and other uploaded files
  • block and unblock users
  • edit the interface and other protected pages.

You can request adminship on Wikispecies if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are not completely new to Wikimedia projects. You have been an editor for at least 2 months and you understand and agree with the goals of the project.
  • You have a user page on Wikispecies and are a contributor here.
  • You agree to follow relevant policies and respect consensus of Wikispecies' users.
  • There is a consensus amongst users here that you would be a suitable administrator.

As with the policy for administrator access on Meta, inactive administrators may have their access removed.

[edit] Past requests

[edit] Requests for adminship / bureaucratship

Please explain here why you need administrator or bureaucrat access. After seven days, if there is general agreement that you should be an administrator or bureaucrat, one of the bureaucrats will fulfill the request. You can use {{subst:RFA|Username}} when making a request to automatically create the form.

[edit] 130.216.1.16

Ends 02:16, 20 November 2008 (UTC) I've noticed this user, who chooses to edit as an IP, to perform many housekeeping tasks related to articles, even tagging vandalism for deletion and requesting blocks. In the past few months, more than have requests for deletion have come from 130.216.1.16. I believe that 130.x will make very good use of the sysop tools, as well as cutting my workload. :p Since it is impossible to assign +sysop to an IP, the rights will be assigned to the account Stho002; either 130.x will use that account only for sysop tasks, or they will switchto use that account instead of the IP. For interests of confirming the link between account and IP, the account's uploaded some images to Commons that 130.x's used, so I'm certain of them being the same individual. Maxim(talk) 02:13, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of nomination: 130.216.1.16 02:16, 13 November 2008 (UTC) a.k.a. Stho002 02:17, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Support

  1. Support, as nom. Maxim(talk) 02:19, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
  2. Of course with 100% support. His contributions here are superb and there's not a single reason that cause any doubt in my decision. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:31, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
  3. Support. CaCO3 13:59, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Oppose

  1. Not convinced. Isn't this a bit ridiculous? At least a CU should be done. Lycaon 23:48, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Why is it ridiculous? It's absolutely certainly the same individual. Maxim(talk) 02:19, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
    I agree! 130.216.1.16 02:27, 14 November 2008 (UTC) So do I!! Stho002 02:27, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm not convinced with Lycaon's arguments. Both already confirmed the identity of each other by verifying each other's response. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
    I'm not “schizophrenic”! 130.216.1.16 04:19, 14 November 2008 (UTC) And neither am I!! Stho002 04:20, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

  • Hey, have we really tried assigning sysop flag to IP address? It might work! (Notice to Maxim, I'm not stuffing beans, I'm not stuffing beans, I'm not stuffing beans...) OhanaUnitedTalk page 14:49, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
  • There is no user by the name "130.216.1.16". Check your spelling. (bureaucrat link only). Maxim(talk) 19:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
  • The IP thing is no big deal, I can log in as Stho002 from now on. There just wasn't any point before now. 130.216.1.16 20:10, 13 November 2008 (UTC) Stho002 20:10, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
    • Don't worry, Stho002, I'm just trying to put up a joke because Maxim has the tendency to fall for jokes like here OhanaUnitedTalk page 23:36, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
      • So, what's a CU? Why does Lycaon oppose??? 130.216.1.16 23:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
        • CU stands for Check User. Check User can determine whether the 2 accounts are related (that is, whether the IPs they use are the same or not) OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:07, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
          • Both the IP and the editor have confirmed that they are the other; there's no real reason to perform a CU. EVula // talk // // 17:13, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
            • Still the ip keeps on editing as an ip. This issue is very confusing for any outsider. Why not do it the proper way and avoid problems later. Lycaon 08:59, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
              • Total agreement; one of the reasons I'm hesitant to close this is because the editor in question isn't remaining logged in; I'd rather that 130 stay logged in as his account for the edits. EVula // talk // // 17:34, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
