[edit] References before Vernacular Names
The help pages certainly can guide you through some of the basics. And don't worry about User:OhanaUnited/Usurp notice. It's just a notepad for me to transclude items very quickly to many users at the same time. No harm done!
Over the years, we have shifted and changed the page formatting. The current and most up-to-date is having references before vernacular names (see Animalia as an example). Now, there are still plenty of pages that remained in old formatting and one of our job here is, aside from creating more species entries/pages, to ensure that all pages will follow the latest formatting (well, eventually...) I know it's a long process, but we rarely have people with the technical knowledge of computer AND also interested in animals that build bots to help speed up such process.
And finally, if you leave a message to a talk page, please add your entry to the bottom, not the top, of the page. This is the common norm across all projects (including Wikipedia). OhanaUnitedTalk page 22:01, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
