Welcome to Wikispecies, Harriv!

We like having new people contributing to Wikispecies. Here are a few things that may be interesting:

  • If you haven't done so, we strongly recommend you to create an account. Creating account is quick and free, plus it provides you more features such as preferences and the ability to keep a watchlist to track changes made to articles that interest you.
  • Have a look at Done and to do.
  • Help:Contents provides a good introduction to editing Wikispecies.
  • Templates are there to help you following syntax and formatting rules.

Please ask further questions in the Village Pump.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at the Wikimedia Commons.

We hope you'll enjoy the time you spend on Wikispecies!

You can sign your messages with ~~~~.

[edit] removing *

Please do not remove all * yet, as they are used in an experimental showcase on Peracarida. For use in Vernacular names, they can be removed everywhere however. Thanks Lycaon 09:33, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

* should be removed only from front of interwiki links. If there are wrongly removed * characters somewhere, please let me know. --Harriv 12:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
no complaints so far :-)) Lycaon 18:53, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bot line

  • Check in Name sections if there's the word and, if so, then replace it with & (because this is universal symbol, 'and' is english) --Kempm 13:17, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Any examples? --Harriv 14:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Anopheles_antunesi is an example. Replacing 'and' in Name section would make it more universal :) --Kempm 15:03, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Also there are instances when people have used the plural form of Taxonavigation words when there is only one taxon associated with it in the list. Is there a way for a bot to locate these typos and fix them to? Example: "Classes: Insecta" being changed to "Classis: Insecta" Totipotent 09:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

I think all of these are doable. However I'm "out-of-office" until end of next week, so you'll have to wait few days. Is there list of words with plural and singular forms? --Harriv 12:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes there is, you can find the list on the Wikispecies:Templates page. Just add the prefixes Super, Sub, and Infra to them. Thanks. Totipotent 14:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reactivate HarrivBOT

Is there any chance HarrivBOT can be reactivated? There is still a lot of cleanup it could do. For example, a search through the 2007-04-20 dump of the Wikispecies database (excluding most non-taxon pages) shows over 1400 pages with "Interwiki". --Georgeryp 18:04, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 'Species' microformat: bot needed

Please see: Wikispecies:Microformat. If people agree to apply this microformat, a bot will be needed. Thank you. Andy Mabbett 10:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
