Name

Circumscriptional names: Zygentoma Börner 1904 = Apterata Boudreaux 1979 .

Typified name in basic format: Lepisma/fg [f: Lepismenae Latreille 1802; g: Lepisma Linnaeus 1758, typus L. saccharina Linnaeus 1758 (design. Latreille 1810; ICZN Opinion 104, 1928 & Direction 64, 1957)]; typified names in use: Lepisma (sensu Latreille 1802), Lepismatida, Lepismatidae, Lepismatoidea, Lepisme, Lepismidae, Lepismoidea.

Sometimes this taxon is named "Thysanura" sensu Börner 1910, but it does not fit the original circumscription of Thysanura Leach 1815, and Thysanoura Latreille 1796, which is the same as Apterygota.
