Overview

A template for taxa mentioned in the AlgaeBase, a database for (ecologically understood) algae and marine grasses. In case you want just to make a citation of AlgaeBase, paste the template without parameters.

To link to a certain page on the AlgaeBase use the template as {{AlgaeBase|1|2|3|4}} or {{AlgaeBase|rank=|id=|name=|accessdate=}}. Parameters:

• the 1st one or rank (optional): rank of the taxon. Three states allowed: 'species' (for species and infraspecific categories), 'genus' (for genera) and 'higher' (for suprageneric taxa). Default rank is 'species'.
• the 2nd one or id (mandatory or optional): ID for the taxon. One could find an ID in URL: e.g. in 'www.algaebase.org/search/genus/detail/?genus_id=34027' for Metapeyssonnelia.
• the 3rd one or name (optional): explicit taxon name to be shown instead of default name (got from {{PAGENAME}})
• the 4th one or accessdate (optional): date of access
