Classifications[edit]

The classification system used over is a mixture reflecting current uncertainty. The 4 subgenera are likely to be unsustainable in the long term leaving just a number of sectiones. Currently, Rosa subg. Hesperhodos remains as it lacks transfer to a sectio. The numbers of sectiones accepted varies according to sources, but it is likely to end up being about 10/12. Species allocation to sectiones is also uncertain, as phylogenies and morphology do not always agree - Weismann (2017) c.f. Dubray et al. (2022). It is too early to produce an updated and satisfactory classification. However, Each sectio needs a lot more research and references in order to justify its inclusion and species composition. Series need a lot more research. Andyboorman (talk) 08:43, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
