Each of the subfamilies here has at various times been proposed as a full family.

This has not taken into account any recent research and does not follow any single source completely. Even HBW does not club Ramphastidae and Capitonidae. If modern work is included the Megalaimidae should also be added - though there is a good chance that it should now be called Psilopogonidae. Shyamal (talk) 16:13, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
