According to Erhard (1998), "there is no strong evidence for the division of the Oniscidea into the groups Tylomorpha and Ligiamorpha (Tabacaru and Danielopol, 1996a,b), but there is a sister-group relationship between the Diplocheta (family Ligiidae) and the new taxon Holoverticata. The family Tylidae belongs neither to the Crinocheta (Schmalfuss, 1989) nor it is closely related to Mesoniscidae."
