Talk:Andropogoneae

There is still debate about the classification of this tribe - see page for a treatment obtained from GrassWorld that uses informal clades and groups. This does not seem to be satisfactory for Wikispecies. There is a classification proposed by Soreng et al (2012) that uses formal taxa, but it also presents a re-working of the Tribe that promotes Saccharinae to its own tribe Sacchareae! It is unclear what this does to the monophyletic status of Andropogoneae. Work in progress.
Since this statement was written the Andropogoneae versus Sacchareae debate has been resolved, Welker et al., 2014. The necessary changes on WS have been made Andyboorman (talk) 20:49, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
