• Zhang et al. (2003) warn that records of this species from outside China must be treated carefully as collectors have noted on similarity of its foliage to that of Rhododendron.
• Lao occurrence is represented by M.F. Newman [et al.] LAO 1431 (collected in Khammouane province; deposited at E [​E00416074^(GBIF)]).
