Note: In order to clear up any confusion regarding species epithets for this taxon and its the homotypic synonyms please see this quote from IPNI:

• On p. 148, Hooker and Arnott proposed Tridax ? galardioides as the name of a new species, and on p. 149, the authors remarked that ‘the inflorescence so resembles a Galardia, that had we not examined it minutely, we should have placed it in that genus; the name Galardia is a spelling error for the genus name Gaillardia Foug. (1786), and the epithet spelling galardioides is corrected here to gaillardioides. Auto-corrected under ICN Art 60
