Circumscriptional name of the taxon under consideration: Amyocerata Remington 1955.

Most often this taxon is named "Ectognatha" sensu Hennig 1953, but it does not fit the original circumscription of Ectognatha Stummer-Traunfels 1891, which does not include Pterygota. Sometimes this taxon is named "Insecta" sensu Handschin 1958, but it does not fit the original circumscription of Insecta Linnaeus 1758, which is approximatedly the same as Arthropoda.
