Name[edit]

Gilchristella aestuaria (Gilchrist, 1913)

  • Syntypes: SAM 10822-25 (1, 1, 1, 14).

Type locality: Tidal portion of Zwartkops River, near Port Elizabeth, and tidal rivers near East London, South Africa.

Etymology: referring to occurrence in estuarine (brackish) waters (also occurs in fresh water). (From The ETYFish Project)
