Caudal peduncle as long as deep 310 CYPRIXIDJE. or a little deeper than long. Scales 36—39 (jF^J, 3^-4^ between lateralline and root of ventral, 1G-18 round caudal peduncle. Laheo iveeksii.Type. i. eye perfectly lateral, in middle of head, 3^- times in length of head,If times in interorbital width; width of mouth, with lips, 2f times inlength of head ; both lips with several rows of conical papillae, the outerforming a strong fringe; edge of rostral flap entire; a minute barbel,partly hidden under folds of skin; scars of small tubercles on thesnout. Dorsal III 12, equally distant from occiput and from caudal, LABEO. 311 notched, falciform, last unbranched ray and first branched ray twicelength of head. Anal III 5, reaching root of caudal. Pectoral as longas head, not reaching ventral, the first ray of which falls below secondbranched ray of dorsal. Caudal notched, crescentic. Caudal peduncleslightly deeper than long. Scales 36 ?f, 3; between lateral line androot of ventral, 16 round caudal peduncle. Yellowish, with dark brownlines running between the series of scales. Total length 225 millim. Upper Congo.1. Type.
